And is planned to be ongoing from 2018.=20 The dates between 2014 and 2017 were mined from eBird and NSBirds magazine, w= eighing much heavier on the NSBS publication reports, mainly Spring issues. I= f any past arrival dates were ambiguous they were not used. Obvious overwint= ering species were excluded from the start. And as data was picked through m= any species were culled because there were birds who remained in winter whic= h overlapped arriving ones. Hence the species list presented.=20 Remember this was done by pawing through past records w/o informed observers= being present to assess what was really happening on the ground and their k= nowledge was, of course, unrecorded.=20 After this fraught discussion, and only speaking for myself, I believe we sh= ould start including all species that do indeed arrive in Spring, only leavi= ng out residents like Chickadees, from 2018 on. We would have to have inform= ed consensus opinion on many species to ascertain an actual arrival date but= not all. But w/ tech it is easy to =E2=80=9Cget together=E2=80=9D to do thi= s. That way LBBGull, RBGull, and Grackle appearances mentioned below would m= ost likely qualify.
