Subject: [NatureNS] Update to the Blake Maybank Winter Bird List (193)

We are now at species 193 species which is 1 species less than we had by the
end of January last year.

Addition(s) since the last update:

Tundra Swan - Dominique Gusset, Duncan's Cove. 4th time on the WBL and first
in 7 years.

Red-shouldered Hawk - Alix d'Entremont, Pleasant Bay, Yarmouth. 3rd year in
a row for this winter time visitor (presumably the same bird)

**The core species we are still missing (the white rows in the spreadsheet).

Ruddy Duck - any day now

Eastern Meadowlark - 2 years ago we dipped and thereby snapped a 20+ year
streak

**Species we're still missing that have been on the Winter Bird List 17 or
18 times in the last 20 years

Rusty Blackbird

**Species we're still missing that have been on the Winter Bird List 15 or
16 times in the last 20 years

Gyrfalcon

**Obviously most are very unlikely now but species we're still missing that
have been on the Winter Bird List 13 or 14 times in the last 20 years

Sexy Duck (Redhead)

Semipalmated Sandpiper

House Wren

Black-and-White Warbler

Lark Sparrow

There may be a short delay before the spreadsheet gets uploaded but for more
info or to view the WBL list or to download the full version of the WBL
spreadsheet, visit our Winter Birds page under Library at
http://nsbirdsociety.ca/
