None of us are privy to what drives the decisions the government makes, =
and I am glad I am not an elected MLA. It=E2=80=99s impossible to do a =
perfect (maybe even good) job. The only guarantee is that you will make =
mistakes and annoy everyone, at some point, and you will almost never =
have all the information you need to make a sufficiently-informed =
decision.

=20

I have huge problems with the way they are managing the forests, but =
considering our (growing) debt servicing costs, our need for various =
services, including infrastructure maintenance, and the demands for =
higher pay from public employees, maybe the forests are a politically =
low-hanging fruit. I strongly disagree that their holding the line with =
teachers and public servants is stupid. We all have to tighten our =
belts.

=20

I believe in constructive criticism and mutually respectful debate, but =
have limited patience with name-calling and gratuitous bashing.

expect any sensible decisions in this matter.

Dear All,=20

Usually I side with industry because without jobs everything will be =
gone with the wind. But their present treatment plan is little more than =
a rerun of the deplorable Boat Harbor fiasco. Instead of dumping their =
wastewater in Boat Harbor they plan to dump it in the ocean. Since when =
is dumping a treatment ?

There was an article in the Chr. Hrld. explaining why a closed cycle =
treatment system was not possible and it was just so much golbedygook =
and lame excuses. I looked into the corporate structure on Northern Pulp =
a few weeks ago and doubt that they have the technical expertise to =
innovate a remedial treatment of their wastewater.=20

This is where government scientists should have been involved 50 =
years ago but better late than never. Please give Halifax and Ottawa a =
reminder of their duties.=20
