Along a stretch of about 10 utility poles bears had clawed at at least 6 of them. This was the most ripped up pole: https://www.flickr.com/photos/150605880@N07/37149171773/in/dateposted-public/ A closer look at it: https://www.flickr.com/photos/150605880@N07/37561043160/in/dateposted-public/ When I (5'2") stood against the pole my "claws" reached up to the top of the damaged area. All of the scrapes were at about the same height on these poles lining a gravel road.
