They get pretty big. Don=E2=80=99t know of any pure black = ones, though. =20 From: naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca = [mailto:naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca] On Behalf Of = rita.paul@ns.sympatico.ca Sent: October 2, 2017 9:00 AM To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Subject: [NatureNS] Big Black Spider =20 Hi All=20 Saturday we were canoeing on a little lake - Skunk Lake its named I think. They must have been running low on names when the namers got to that one! Anyway as we were coming in the gunnel of the canoe brushed on a branch of a bush that was hanging out over the water. Something black fell in the canoe from the branch. I first thought a = mouse but when I saw it closely it was a big black spider. About 3 cm long with 6 big legs. I never thought we had spiders that big of any colour in Nova Scotia. When we got ashore I took it in my hand and put it in a bush. A pretty fellow he was - would make a good pet. Does anyone know what species it might be? Are they rare in NS or has my observations been spotty? Enjoy the fall Paul =20 ------=_NextPart_000_0029_01D33B70.7DCB5590 Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html xmlns:v=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" = xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" = xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" = xmlns:m=3D"http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2004/12/omml" = xmlns=3D"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">
<meta = http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dutf-8"><meta = name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 14 (filtered = medium)">
<body lang=3DEN-CA link=3Dblue = vlink=3Dpurple>

<span = style=3D'font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497= D'>Wonder if it was one of those =E2=80=9Cfishing=E2=80=9D spiders = (Dolomedes).=C2=A0 They get pretty big.=C2=A0 Don=E2=80=99t know = of any pure black ones, though.
<p = class=3DMsoNormal><span = style=3D'font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497= D'>

<div = style=3D'border:none;border-top:solid #B5C4DF 1.0pt;padding:3.0pt 0cm = 0cm 0cm'>
<span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>From:= <span lang=3DEN-US = style=3D'font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> = naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca [mailto:naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca] = On Behalf Of rita.paul@ns.sympatico.ca
Sent: October 2, = 2017 9:00 AM
To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca
Subject: = [NatureNS] Big Black Spider

<p = class=3DMsoNormal>

Hi All =

Saturday we were canoeing = on a little lake - Skunk Lake

<p = class=3DMsoNormal>its named I think.
