Hi All,
It should also be pointed out that there is a very serious Lyme Disease =
outbreak here in Western Nova Scotia. Public health officials are =
telling people to mow their lawns as a first line of defense against =
Lyme Disease. Any discussion of this approach should probably deal with =
the question of minimizing exposure to Black-legged Ticks.

If you=E2=80=99re going to try this in an Urban or even village setting, =
verify that there aren=E2=80=99t bylaws written preventing a =
=E2=80=98wild=E2=80=99 lawn. Fighting city hall and ignoring a bylaw =
officer on the issue can result in a city crew descending on your yard =
and imposing a =E2=80=98groomed=E2=80=99 look. You can be left holding =
an industrial sized bill and a yard that looks like a soya field after =
harvest. Fortunately such bylaws are not universal.

This is exactly what I am looking for but, unfortunately, I am in =

Will someone be filming or taping this presentation? It will be =
invaluable to have on record for consultation. I am trying to develop a =
"how-to" piece on letting your lawn grow wild as many people want to do =
this but don't know how to begin or when to cut or mow - perhaps once a =
year or once every two years? etc. etc. And, as Mary says, we need a =
"new aesthetic".
Perhaps you can live-stream it on Facebook tonight? Let me know and I =
will watch it. =20

This is the story in Kings County too & likely thru-out NS. Likely some =
pockets where insects are still doing OK. Bad news for certain bird =
