Index of Subjects
Index of Subjects thanks guys. I have had Monarchs here, one possibly two, at a time but not as many as I would like to see of course. Thursday I discovered I have fresh eggs on a plant here so went off in search of more plants (mine have just about finished producing the seed pods). I found plants at a nursery in Hebbville. I bought a few and am hoping that will see things through. We have quite a few of the Painted/American ladies and Wood nymphs. Sadly I have yet to see a Mourning Cloak. They used to be here by the hundreds when the apples dropped. They had drunken parties in our back yard. Larry the cuttings you gave us last year have done really well, as have the seeds. just are done for the season. Marg in White Point, Queens ..................................... James, Thanks for the note on Monarchs. I walked my field today and found only three Monarchs whereas last week we saw 8-10 Monarchs in a similar walk. I figured the Monarchs are leaving to head south. We have released over one hundred now but still have over fifty being raised, mostly in the chrysalis stage. We still see new 'wild' ones coming out of the milkweed field also and noted many large caterpillars there.
