Hi All,

For the past few days I've heard what I assume is a Black-billed Cuckoo=
calling around the valley. The call is a repeated single note cu-cu-cu-cu.=
I've heard the call in both days and nights. I tried on a couple of occasi=
ons to track down the source of the call but the bird is shy and I have yet=
to get a visual sighting. It's been over 24 hours since I last heard the b=
ird call so the bird may have moved on. I don't count hearing a bird call a=
s proof for my life list so unfortunately this will not be a new species fo=
r me.

I do believe a Black-billed Cuckoo was seen in the area (near the No=
rth Aspy River bridge) years ago but I've forgotten the details. If I do ge=
t to see this bird I'll pass on the info. All the best.

                     Fritz McEvoy
