I wondered if at first = parents of birds (grandparents?) that laid the eggs come back to check = to see are there others left behind. I am not sure.=20 We had a nest where the parents got one off and seemed to forget there = were others in the nest and they did die slowly. When the others all = came there was a huge set too and much entering the nest, flying around = and all most panic amongst all involved. It really was heart breaking.=20 I know we aren=E2=80=99t suppose to attach human emotions but I do think = we aren=E2=80=99t the only feeling entities and to me, at times things = are very clear.=20 Another year a late nest had all of a sudden a number of outside birds = all coming and bringing food to the chicks. At one point I was worried = they would pop so much was being brought. That year we had four = successful fledges.=20 The usual routine is a couple days after they take flight they are = brought back to the property and shown where they came from and I think = the birds will return the following year.=20 ................................................. The last Tree Swallow fledged from it's nest box on June 25.=20 Every morning since there have been 3 or 4 Tree Swallows returning to = fly around the yard and check out box nest boxes - usually 1 or 2 going = in and out of the boxes. This morning there were 8 Tree Swallows gliding around the yard and most = going to the nest box holes. There is no nesting taking place in either = box. Has anyone else encountered this behaviour ?
