I ran my breeding bird route from Jordan Falls, through Shelburne and up in=
to Welshtown today. Boy what a fluctuation of temperature from 4-21 and th=
en in the evening back down to single digits again. When I got home it fel=
t like four degrees again. Anyhow, I ended up with 51 species. Big misses=
were evening grosbeak, hawk species and northern cardinals. I had two oli=
ve-sided flycatchers. Each were at separate locations. Overall I think th=
e number of bird species were up at most stops. I had only one stop with n=
o birds present. On the downside, I don't think I'll be running the route =
during a week day again due to the traffic in Shelburne. I really didn't h=
ave a choice this time around with the weather on the weakends and working =
full time and having to work Saturdays and Sundays quite often.

I have no idea where the explosion of willets came from at Crescent Beach t=
onight. They were all adult birds, no juveniles that I could see and there=
were 51. Up until now the highest count that I had with my shorebird surv=
eys was 12.
