Geese were hard to locate in the Truro area for the past couple of days, bu=
t today I found a big and growing flock of about 2500 Canadas right along H=
wy 311 in North River, Colchester Co. It was made up of about 20% Branta ca=
nadensis interior, a northeastern subarctic-arctic subspecies of Canada Goo=
se. One of these was the neck-ringed G7B, originally collared in Issungua, =
West Greenland, in July 2014, and seen last in October 2015 in the Shubenac=
adie area. This, it seems to me, is a very early arrival of Greenland birds=
, no doubt along with interiors from Labrador, northern Quebec, and maybe S=
W Baffin Island.

Also in the flock was a leucistic bird, probably B.c. canadensis, having a =
nearly totally white body, very lightly barred here and there in buff, but =
with a totally normal head and neck. Head down, which is how I first saw it=
, it could easily have been mistaken for a Snow Goose.
