Had a very similar experience and was surprised to see that the adults were
 still feeding the young.

A large late-summer gathering of C. Grackle families descended on our Ridge
Rd bird feeders this morning. 100 or more individuals stayed about 15
mins.
Unable to identify ratio of imms vs. adults as they were widely spread out
beyond feeders in the woods and garden but could see a good number of young
birds. Generally around this time of year there is an annual black bird
invasion of some sort on our property.
