I did see new fledglings there last week, but not sure what the overa= ll success rate was. My own barn did not have any this year. But a pair of = tree swallows successfully raised three chicks and departed the last week o= f June. They stayed in the vicinity for two or three days only, and I haven= 't seen them since. I imagine they are starting the long journey south alre= ady, "taking the back roads" maybe, with the babies in tow! Their flying sk= ills quickly improve I'm sure, but they are not ready for the bodies of wat= er right away, I'm thinking. The young ones have things to learn as they ma= ke their way.
