We saw our first Monarch butterfly in our field yesterday but only saw it during two brief encounters. Today, we had a good look and I got pictures. The common milkweed is starting to flower and insects are being attracted to it. It has been very dry in the Valley and we have had less than 20 mm for the month of June. Some plants are wilting including milkweed on our sandy soils. ////// === /////// Larry Bogan Brooklyn Corner, Nova Scotia <larry@bogan.ca>
