The Common Mergansers have successfully hatched a brood on L Torment, E Dalhousie, Kings Co. again this year. I just saw mother Merganser and 5-6 small ducklings swimming along the shoreline. Somehow, despite all the boat traffic on this large lake, their young usually survive to adulthood before disappearing to the coast in the Fall. Haven't noticed any Loon chicks so far. Nancy D.
