However, it is important to point out that other power lines cross the Strait of Canso (at Auld's Cove) and more are still to come with the Muskrat Falls project. It is more difficult to assess the bird mortality that occurs from collision with power lines that cross over water in comparison to the better estimates of mortality that can be made at the causeway by walking along the highway and counting the carcasses.
