Index of Subjects Sounds like an amazing place, and hopefully will remain so in the future. Very true that stumps will sprout quickly, though sugar maple doesn't like the exposure and may not sprout as successfully as red maple, to my knowledge. Yellow birch, if present, may not do so well neither. It would be interesting to follow its succession. I live too far away unfortunately. The site described at http://karstaddailypaintings.blogspot.ca/2013/11/hawkridge-chipmunk-6oil-on-canvs-6-x-8.html seems to have been clearcut in the mid 20th Century, but without grazing or other disturbance, retained at least a lot of the forest floor diversity. fred. ================================================== On 5/8/2016 10:47 AM, Donna Crossland wrote: > I also couldn’t fully understand the details, so was waiting for > others with more information.
