Had a chance to get out butterflying with the nice weather this afternoon -=
and checked out the trails at the Kentville Bird Sanctuary. After a coupl=
e of previous April outings on warm days earlier in the month (at different=
sites) that yielded no observations=2C we were delighted to encounter and =
photograph 4 different species today:
1 Mourning Cloak1 Mustard White1 Eastern Pine Elfin1 Hoary Elfin
There were also a number of moths active/on the wing in the woods. One typ=
e of micromoth appeared to be particularly plentiful.
Also=2C while moving a couple of plants in the garden at home later in the =
afternoon=2C I realized that the digging inadvertently brought to the surfa=
ce a (very groggy) queen Bombus impatiens=2C... now awoken from it's long w=
inter slumber.
