Highlight of a day's birding today, Feb. 20, in coastal Queen's Co.: a fine=
adult graellsii Lesser Black-backed Gull at Eagle Head Beach (the only pla=
ce in the County that I find them regularly); a Thick-billed Murre in West =
Berlin harbour (Cranberry Cove); and an Ipswich Sparrow at the West Berlin =
wharf. In the Liverpool sewage ponds were at least 45 Bufflehead, 150+ Mall=
ards (woe is us!), 6 Lesser Scaup and one Greater, and a few Black Ducks. G=
ulls were unusually abundant, apparently in feeding flocks, especially at a=
nd near Liverpool, mainly the big common ones but with a sprinkling of Ring=
-bills and numbers of "Iceland" (i.e. Kumlien's) Gulls of ranging from 1st =
cy to adult.
