When I was a lot younger, we had some growing in recently (Well, ten-odd ye=
ars) cleared semi-wetland across the road from our house on Wyman Road, sou=
th of Yarmouth. Haven=E2=80=99t checked out the area for awhile, but suspe=
ct that succession has taken its inevitable course.

More recently, recall seeing some in the wetland stretch between Villagedal=
e (Sand Hills Prov. Park) and Port LaTour in Shelburne County.

Just on the opposite side of the road from Lawrencetown beach there are a g=
azillion. I know of other sites as well, but that is a large field.

All,

There's a wide-ranging study of Pitcher Plants going on, and the investigat=
ors have asked...

We are still deciding on specific sites, but I will certainly be in touch i=
f we plan to sample in Nova Scotia again. We are trying to increase sites =
along a latitudinal gradient, so if you have any additional sites in mind w=
ith 15+ (preferably 24+) non-clonal plants that we can sample leaves for ge=
netic analysis, microbial community analysis, and a couple other analyses, =
that information would be great to have.

The only site I know of that they worked with in NS is just outside the Bon=
net Lake Barrens WPA, near Canso. Pitcher Plants are uncommon here in Antig=
onish Co. (at least I don't know of many sites with lots of plants), so I p=
ut it out there to you folks...if you know of any sites, please contact the=
investigator (below) directly. I assume that to avoid paperwork, sites out=
side of protected areas would be preferred, but don't hesitate to include t=
hose, too.

Thanks,

Randy
