Hi All=2C
Today=2C Nov. 19 at 1110 AM I had what I believe to be a first winter Frank=
lin's Gull at Hall's Harbour=2C Kings County=2C NS. It was seen flying into=
 the harbour past a significantly larger Herring Gull on a light pole=2C wh=
eeling around when reaching the bridge=2C heading back to the water=2C stop=
ping briefly on the beach where it was virtually invisible because of the s=
till brownish mantle=2C then flying around the headland to the east. A fish=
ing boat was spotted off Cove Road and many gulls were flocking around it=
=2C but I could not relocate the bird. Several photos were taken=2C some of=
 which may be diagnostic though poor.=20
Black ear patch extending to partial hood=2C distinct broken white eye ring=
=2C black bill shorter than Laughing Gull and without droop=2C whitish brea=
st and neck=2C underwing white except for primaries=2C narrow black band on=
 tail=2C and brownish tone to mantle were noted. I believe the above elimin=
ates the similar Laughing Gull.
