It has been an interesting few days here in White Point, Queens.
We still have two hummingbirds on the property possibly 3. Yesterday three
screamed into our living room window. They all seemed to continue on their
way. I only saw two today and that was just a short awhile ago. Maybe
transients I suppose but they weren't concerned about the people in the yard
so I am thinking they were "ours" . We found no dead or injured so hopefully
no fatalities.

The wasps are continuing to build an enormous nest on the barn. It is
amazing! it starts under the eaves and is close to the bottom of the second
row of shingles.

There has been a number of waxwings gathering in our trees. Lots of calling
and them ranging away them more, over and over. It is getting to be a large
flock.

We had an event here this afternoon and evening and as things were winding
up, I looked up and two nighthawks flew right over us.

I have seen two Kingfishers; one at the bridge in the Estates and the other
at the second bridge in Milton (Potanoc Street bridge) (off route 8)

We have two Monarch Chrysalis that we have found so far from what we thing
may be from the 10 caterpillars we found on the milkweed. There may have
been more we simply don't know. The milkweed appears to be empty, now.

To top it all off as I was returning outside to bring more things in, at the
top of my steps, a Bat flew right by my nose. It was a little brown Bat,
I'm a fairly sure. What else would be that size?

best regards, Marg Millard
