Hi Mary & All,
I have intended to respond to your April 12 post for (obviously) some
time and will eventually do so.
Meanwhile I will send some general and specific comments with respect to
the Sept 5 post.
The internet has enormous power to focus attention, outrage etc. on
specific matters and if this power is not balanced by a corresponding
increase in restraint then the proverbial excrement hits a very large and
rapidly rotating fan. The various versions of Arab Spring come to mind and,
so far as I am aware, all of these initiatives have led to terribly adverse
consequences.

Getting back to the particular, it is common practice for companies to spin
off Divisions which have become distinct and large enough to manage on their
own and, in this case, the associated IPO will absorb much parent company
debt.

I have come to suspect that Bayer is a victim of misplaced public
outrage. I may be wrong but what if Bayer products are better than any other
choice? What would have been achieved if misplaced public pressure were to
force Bayer to remove these (possibly) superior products from the market ?

Farmers don't stay in business by making wrong choices. It is entirely
possible however that neonicotinoid pesticides, applied to residential lots,
do lead to bee damage; the premise being "if a little is good then a lot is
better".

Getting to the heart of any technical or scientific question is much
more difficult than many suppose. And this job should be left to those who
have the resources, background and experience to do so.

Yours truly, Dave Webster, Kentville
