Thanks to all for the comments. The Ex actually starts tomorrow=2C so it w=
ould not be enough time to mobilize anything to save or help the birds. If=
I had known about the young sooner than yes something could've been done. =
It won't hurt to put a note on the facebook page and maybe they will addre=
ss the bird issue. I will do that and also send an email to them.

Lighthouse Now: phone number: 902-543-2457.

Email: newstips@lighthousenow.ca

That should do it!

I suggest you (or someone in the Bridgewater area) call the South Shore Ex=
hibition phone number: 902-543-3341.

Their website is: http://www.thebigex.com/Contact-Us.html

You could also email them at: bigex@ns.aliantzinc.ca and put a note on the=
ir Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/south.exhibition

I would then contact the press: Lighthouse Now - they love stories like th=
is and it will make the Exhibition organizers look like heroes (if indeed t=
hey take some action to protect the Killdeer)=2C as well as giving publicit=
y to the exhibition and the birds!

This four-pronged effort should work - let us know.

Could you speak to the exhibition management and see if they would=0A=
allow you to fence off a small area where the Killdeer normally=0A=
stay? Just some posts and a rope might be enough. Seems like some=0A=
attempt to save the chicks should be made.

Normally by now killdeer would be at the age where=0A=
the young would have flight. The exhibition for Bridgewater st=
arts tomorrow.=0A=
Normally a pair of killdeer nest on the grounds and the=0A=
young are at the point where they can fly=2C so usually this=0A=
is not a problem. This is not the case this year. The pair=0A=
have four young and they would need a week or a week and a=0A=
half yet before flight. I watched the one adult today with=0A=
the four young. Someone had two dogs and was throwing a=0A=
ball for the dogs and the adult killdeer as you can imagine=0A=
was freaking out. She successfully led the young away from=0A=
the dogs and had them by the road when I walked by. The=0A=
exhibition officially starts tomorrow and set-up is still=0A=
ongoing. It is in the area where the adult killdeer and=0A=
young usually tend. The parking area will be full where=0A=
they could go when activity is on the grounds=2C but tomorrow=
=0A=
that area will be occupied and there will be people activity=0A=
all over the place. I suspect the young will not make it=0A=
through the week. We shall see what happens though. =0A=
