It was a neat sight in the= Avonport clear sky. If the sky continues clear this evening, Venus will s= till appear to be less than one Moon diameter from Jupiter. Venus will have= moved slightly east (to the left of) Jupiter: still be a notable sight: t= he two brightest planets, side by side! Located in the western sky, with b= est views between 9:45 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Venus is the brightest one. Al= though at a close conjunction (aligned in the sky with Jupiter) they are ac= tually quite far apart. Light that my camera caught from Venus, currently r= equired about 4 minutes to reach Earth, while light from Jupiter had been t= raveling for about 48 minutes. Regulus, the star in the upper left corner = of the photo, had travelled 77 years before entering the camera. Regulus i= s the main star in LEO the Lion. June 29, 30 and July 1st were closest nights; I got JUne 29 and 30 checked = off. To see this close alignment 3 nights in a row would be great! Cheers, Sherman The linked photo is here: http://www.sherm39.com/Home_Site2/Home_Site_fil= es/Jupiter-Venus_conj-Jun30%2815-SW.jpg Sherman Williams shermwms@eastlink.ca<mailto:shermwms@eastlink.ca> http://www.sherm39.com/Home_Site2/Home_Site.html --_000_DM2PR03MB5915CB43D5D4AF06A37D940CDA80DM2PR03MB591namprd_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

<meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-= 1">
<body dir=3D"ltr"> <div id=3D"divtagdefaultwrapper" style=3D"font-size:14pt;color:#000000;back= ground-color:#FFFFFF;font-family:Calibri,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
Wonderful conjunction image, Sherman.

Ian McLaren

<div style=3D"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> <hr tabindex=3D"-1" style=3D"display:inline-block; width:98%"> <div id=3D"divRplyFwdMsg" dir=3D"ltr"><font face=3D"Calibri, sans-serif" co= lor=3D"#000000" style=3D"font-size:11pt">From: naturens-owner@chebuc= to.ns.ca <naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca> on behalf of Sherman William= s <shermwms@eastlink.ca>
Sent: July 1, 2015 3:37 PM
To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Naturens
Cc: Sherman Williams
Subject: [NatureNS] Observation of Venus in Conjunction with Jupiter=

I captured this linked photo (below) last evening (June 30, 10:10 p.m.= ) while observing Venus in conjunction with Jupiter.
