Can't help with the barred Owl, but it reminds me - I saw a Bald Eagle take out a crow in mid-air, that had been harassing it‎. Drove it straight down onto a sandbar in the Ingonish River and then ate it.

Nature very red in beak and claw.

Subject: [NatureNS] raptor crow kill

Hi all,

Was sitting outside this am having morning coffee, and some crows, then Blue Jays started mobbing like mad across the road in the woods.

Went over, and was expecting to see a Barred Owl half asleep, but some raptor took off from the ground and was gone in a flash.

There was a mostly eaten crow on the ground, so I am guessing Goshawk, or maybe Great Horned Owl. Have seen Gos' in the area the odd time, but never a GHO.

Does anyone know of a Barred Owl killing, and eating a crow?

cheers,
Gary Murray
