Hi everyone,

Today I was at the Amherst Marsh. On two occasions I heard a one =
syllable sound coming from the marsh that sounded like =93Oong-K"

The American Bittern is known for making an =93Oong-KA-chunk=94 sound. =
What I heard sounded like just the first syllable as I said which =
sounded like =93Oong-K=94 The tone sounded like a Bittern from the one =
syllable. I=92m aware of what a bull frog sounds like=20
and it wasn=92t a bull frog.

Question : Do American Bitterns do a single =93Oong-K=94 sound? I =
want to know the answer before I enter these two American Bitterns on =
E-bird.

Chris Peters=
