Last evening I dropped into Earth Organic Market on Quinpoll Rd, Halifax to
pick up my 3rd bag of Bird & Beans certified Bird-Friendly coffee. I find
the medium roast to be excellent. I don't think the sales are quite as good
as we hoped though, especially considering prominent end shelf placement in
view of everyone who enters the store. But Earth Organic is going to keep
the product coming and hopefully the sales will increase over time. I also
bought a re-useable k-cup so that I could bring my own coffee to work and
that is so much better in every way. I'm appalled I didn't do that before
now.
On the back label of Birds & Beans coffee it states, "This package contains
luscious coffee and 110 sq. ft. of lush habitat too!" I don't know how many
crops a year they get but regardless, if it takes 110 sq. ft. of
bird-friendly habitat to produce each bag of coffee then every person that
buys bird-friendly coffee is making a big difference. The increased habitat
alone is worth the $10 but they throw in awesome coffee for free!
