I think this is doubly impressive considering (note subject line) that =
cardinals can and do attempt nesting throughout the summer to early =
autumn, no doubt with lots of losses of nests & eggs & nestlings & =
fledglings, but the potential for such multi-brooded species is quite =
large.  I wonder if multi-brooded species on average live shorter lives =
than single-brooded species?
