Hi all After a dawn survey this morning, I did a couple hours birding in the Brookville-Churchville area of Pictou co 9-11. Probably drove 3-4 km and walked a couple so it was not far, but warblers were very abundant with 16 species recorded plus an additional Black-throated Blue heard only while I was doing the earlier surveys. I also had my first Lincoln's Sparrow and Swainson's Thrush of the season at survey site. A smallish white violet and spring beauties were in bloom. Least Flycatchers were abundant in all three locations I was at and I saw a single Yellow-bellied Flycatcher. Most common warblers were Black-throated Green, Northern Parula, Black and White and Ovenbird with 15-20 each, then Magnolia and Chestnut-sided with just under 10. Had my first Pictou Co.. Blackpoll and season first Wilson's Warbler (3) and Canada Warbler. Bloodroot is still in bloom along the Willard Fraser Rd. I took photos of Wood Frog egg masses in about 8 spots and hope to submit these to the STFX Bishop Lab study. Great day to be outside! Cheers Ken Sent from my iPad
