This morning at Palmeter Woods (W. Kentville) there was little bird activit=
y. Heard were 1 Yellow-rump=2C + Song Sparrows & 1 White-throat=2C a Pied-b=
illed Grebe calling in the outer swamp (the water level very high because o=
f flooding from the Cornwallis R.). One interesting sighting were two birds=
high in a tree which appeared to be Rusty Blackbirds. They flew off to the=
swamp & disappeared. A Green Frog was "glunging" near the bridge. A few ot=
her common birds including Mallards.=20

The company mining the sand have a large pile on the field before the bridg=
e. This field was very good for butterflies=2C esp. Common Ringlets but is =
no more. Also gone is a an area where Andrena Bees were common - no sign of=
 them now.=20

There was still quite a bit of snow on the path which makes walking tricky.=
Hopefully this will have melted by next Sat (Count Day).

At Saxon St. Pond=2C 1 Common Merganser=3B At Canard Pond=2C 1 Common Loon =
doing his best to attract a mate. ( I don't think loons have ever nested h=
ere).
