Hi Gayle & All,
Interpretations may change of course, but I understand that the =
unusually warm conditions in the west and drought in the SW, both driven =
by a large blob of unusually warm water in the Pacific may persist for =
decades. And somehow this disruption of the normal air circulation leads =
to unusually cold, snowy winters in the NE.
It would appear that we are already within a period of climatic =
instability such that 30 year averages and last year's winter provide =
only an approximate idea about the next winter.=20
So one should hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville

  Thank you Hans,

Your blog, as usual, is so well written, photographed and researched & =
is the best, that I have read, regarding the terrible hardships =
encountered by our Nova Scotia wildlife.=20

I surely hope that this was an 'freak' winter, and, that our next =
ones, will not be as bad!
