<br>&gt; &gt; I had a ca --001a11347500cbb1b20511df3f42 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Saw whet died within hours and also admitted a red tailed hawk. This one was also severely emaciated and just died. When we get starving birds in we go through a very specific protocol with rewarming, fluids, tube feeding and eventually introduction of whole foods. Sometimes they are just too far gone. Both of these birds had lost greater than 30% of their body weight....often the marker for the grey area of the point of no return. Sometimes we can pull them through, sometimes we can't. On the bright side we are currently housing many raptors that are good to go once there's food available. If that ever happens! :-) Helene Helene Van Doninck DVM Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre Hilden Nova Scotia www.cwrc.net helene.birdvet@gmail.com 902-893-0253 On Mar 21, 2015 1:06 PM, "Helene Van Doninck" <helene.birdvet@gmail.com> wrote: > We just admitted another starving saw whet, this one from Middle > Musquodoboit. > Helene > > Helene Van Doninck DVM > Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre > Hilden Nova Scotia > www.cwrc.net > helene.birdvet@gmail.com > 902-893-0253 > On Mar 21, 2015 11:15 AM, "Randy Lauff" <randy.lauff@gmail.com> wrote: > >> Deep snow is tough on the small - medium owls, but lovely for the >> rodents.
