Look for faint Mars beneath Venus. On Sunday, March 1, just after dark, Jupiter is the bright "star" to the Moon's lower left, and Procyon is the real star to the Moon's right. Far lower right of there shines Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. Sirius is also the *nearest* star that's visible to the naked eye from New Brunswick, at a distance of 8.6 light-years. On Tuesday, March 3, bright Jupiter shines above the Moon this evening. Spot fainter Regulus closer to the Moon's lower left. On Thursday, March 5, the Moon will go into its Full Phase meaning we will see it all night. Expect lower low tides and higher high tides. Little Mars has sunk to 6=C2=B0 below Venus now in the west at dusk. The ga= p between them will continue to widen until Mars finally becomes lost in the sunset in late April. On Saturday, February 28, the sun rose at 7:01 a.m. and set at 6:02 p.m. to give 11 hours 1 minute of daylight hours. On Saturday, March 7, the sun will rise at 6:46 a.m. and will set at 6:14 p.m. giving 11 hours 27 minutes of daylight. (These values are for Moncton, New Brunswick). *The days are getting longer!* Daylight-saving time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, March 8. Clocks spring ahead one hour. Well get that hour back in the fall! *This Week's Planet Roundup * =E2=80=8B *Mercury* (magnitude 0.0) glimmers just above the east-southeast horizon during dawn, a little lower every day. Binoculars will be very helpful. *Venus* (magnitude =E2=80=933.9) and *Mars* (less than 1% as bright at magn= itude +1.3) are in the west-southwest during evening twilight. Look for Mars below Venus. *Jupiter* (magnitude =E2=80=932.5) comes into view high in the east during twilight. By 10 p.m. Jupiter is nearly as high as it will get. *Saturn* (magnitude +0.4) rises around 2 a.m. It's best placed in the south as dawn begins. Lower left of Saturn by 8=C2=B0 is orange Antares. *Blake's Pick**=E2=80=8B=E2=80=8B** of NASA's Weekly Photos:* =E2=80=8B =E2=80=8B *The Milky Way Over the Arizona Toadstools* <http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap150223.html> http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap150223.html --=20 Blake Maybank <bmaybank@gmail.com> White's Lake, Nova Scotia My Blog: *CSI: Life* <http://blakemaybank.com> Organiser, *Maritimes Nature Travel Club* <http://tinyurl.com/naturetravel> --047d7b6da42202fe3f05104e8898 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <div dir=3D"ltr"><div dir=3D"ltr"><font size=3D"4">Courtesy of Nelson Poirier:

<div style=3D"text-align:center"><= font size=3D"6">This Week's Sky at a Glance<= br><div class=3D"gmail_default" style=3D"font-family:tahoma,sans-seri= f;display:inline"><font size=3D"4">=E2=80=8BFeb=E2=80=8B
<font = size=3D"4"> <div class=3D"gmail_default" style=3D"font-family:tahoma= ,sans-serif;display:inline"><font size=3D"4">=E2=80=8B27 - March 7<b= r>

<font size=3D"4">

<font size=3D"4"><font size=3D"4"> <p class=3D"MsoNormal" style=3D"margin-bottom:0.0001pt;line-height:normal">= <span style=3D"font-size:14pt;font-family:"Lucida Sans","san= s-serif";color:rgb(51,51,51)" lang=3D"EN-US">Venus and Mars in the western twilight have widened to be 2.7=C2=B0 apart now.
