I went to Hartlen Point (near the entrance to the golf club) twice to see the Kestrel. He appeared right on time the second time. He was hunting over the fields. This was exciting enough. A few times he hovered and moved on then he dove toward the ground, flew up and over to a distant spruce tree. Through the binoculars I could see that he had found lunch. He proceeded to enjoy his prey whena Raven came along to harass him. They both flew around and around like a dogfight. The Raven left and the Kestrel came closer and landed in a small spruce tree right beside us! He still had his lunch and soon there was fur or feathers flying. I couldn't tell. He looked at us a few times butwent back to eating. What a show. I also saw the Scoters and other ducks mentioned in a previous post. Virginia Redden Port Howe Cumb Co -- All men should strive to learn before they die, what they are running from, and to, and why.
