After failing to locate the Common Gull  around Tacoma Drive Dartmouth after work today, I went to Sullivans Pond and spotted a different individual there around 4 p.m.. It was perhaps the gull observed by Jim Edsel and mentioned on his weekend posting :

In regards to the identification of adult Common Gulls, one of the usual characteristics to help distinguish them from our own adult Ring-billed Gulls is that they tend to have very dark eyes rather than a typical adult Ring-bills pale iris. Every once in a long while though I come across an adult Ring-billed Gull who breaks the rules, and I checked this individual from Sunday to make sure both eyes were dark since some can have one off color from injury :
