During the past year many were out = in the field and captured images of some pretty amazing features of = nature and a number of presenters will be on hand to reveal the best or = most interesting tales or photos or artwork of what they observed. = Always a wonderful variety of subjects one never knows what will be = presented next - could be an amazing local waterfall, a Barred Owl in = action, some conservation efforts on local rare species etc. Don't miss = this presentation at the community room of the New Glasgow Library at = 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome and bring along a friend! Below some upcoming events: Mar 3 Naturalist presentation at New Glasgow Library at 6:30 pm will = feature local naturalist Mark Brennan with his illustrated presentation = both visual and auditory on Seeking The Great Silence. Exploring the old growth forests of Vancouver = Island Through Art and Sound=20 Mark Brennan local naturalist and landscape artist has been expanding = his art work into recording sounds in nature. In May 2014 he made a = trip to Vancouver Island where he captured both sights and sounds of old = growth forests and he will share this work with us and how this is not = only a way to preserve these intact wildernesses in art but also how it = has deepened the sense of wild in him and hopefully to us the audience. = He will also be speaking on the Garry Oak forest - an amazing ecosystem. = Mark always puts on a great presentation as his passion for nature pours = out so mark this in your calendar as one not to miss.=20 Great Backyard Bird Count: Feb 13-16. Learn more by checking below Birdwatchers from more than 100 countries are expected to participate in = the 18th annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), February 13-16, 2015. = Around the globe, tens of thousands of volunteers - of all ages and = birding skill levels - will count birds in backyards, local parks, = nature reserves, and wherever they happen to be. This free, = family-friendly educational activity is loads of fun and supports bird = conservation!=20 The GBBC provides a great opportunity to learn more about birds and = connect with nature, and is an ideal way for more experienced birders to = introduce friends and family to the wonderful world of birding.
