Many species will do well under site conditions where they would not in the=
wild if competition is controlled, as in horticultural landscapes. I have=
=C2=A0 swamp milkweed in two garden areas, one with impeded drainage and gy=
psum to simulate optimal habitat, the other=C2=A0 with no special amendment=
s or conditions. Both sets do equally well.=20

I also have the Butterfly milkweed, right now only in large containers wher=
e it does fine.
Initial stock for both came from the spring sale of plants grown from seed =
at Irving Botanical Gardens about 5 years ago. Both produce lots of seed.=
=C2=A0 I have distributed to smamp milkweed to=C2=A0 friends who have had g=
ood success with them after vernalization (not tried without vernalization)=
.
