t at McCormick's
Beach=2C Eastern Passage=2C for the N.S.B.S. and  H.F.N. annual Sewer Strol=
l.=20
   Starting with -12 deg C temp and a stiff  breeze out of the north=2C we=
=20
checked out the usual sights around Halifax Harbour from Hartlens Point to
 Point Pleasant Park.=20
   Highlights were the Eurasian Kestrel as well as 2 Northern Harrier at H.=
P.
Surf & White-winged Scoter at Eastern Passage=2C as well as the Gadwall pai=
r at the Shearwater=20
Sewage treatment plant=2C Black Scoter at Pt Pleasant Pk. Turkey Vulture so=
aring over
the cemetary on Wardour St in Bedford=2C male Green-winged Teal at the Shea=
rwater
sewage outlet and Pt Pleasant Park. Barrows Goldeneye  at Dartmouth Cove an=
d the=20
mouth of the Sackville River. One Eurasian Widgeon and two Am Coot at Sulli=
vans pond
     Other birds seen were - Canada Geese=2C American Black Duck=2C Mallard=
=2C Greater and=20
Lesser Scaup=2C Common Eider=2C Buffelhead=2C Common Goldeneye=2C Red-Breas=
ted Merganser=2C
Bald Eagle=2C Ring-billed=2C Herring=2C Iceland & Great Black-backed Gulls.=
 Black Guillemot=2C
Rock Pigeon=2C Blue Jay=2C  American Crow and Song Sparrow.
     The remaining six troopers called it a day at about 15:00 at P.P.P. wh=
ere the temp had=20
risen to a balmy -9 Deg C.
      These are the birds that I personally saw=2C If others saw something =
else=2C please let me
 know so that I can add it to the official list that I will submit to HFN &=
 NSBS.
     Thanks to all the participants how maintained their  good humour even =
with the
chilly conditions.
PS
   We were surprise by a Global TV film crew which turned up in Eastern Pas=
sage to film our
 trip and interview some of us birders. We got our one minute of fame on th=
e 6:00 PM news.
I think they may have been drawn to the area by the Eurasian Kestrel at HP.
