As it turned out, Joe Brady=92s = description of his sighting =93near the Canning Aboiteau=94 was very = good. I found a small group of 7 beef cattle along the river and a bit = upstream (west) of the aboiteau. Unfortunately the cows and 2 cattle = egrets (Rick & Bernard saw 3 there earlier today) were only viewed very = distantly at about 5-600 metres distance from the paved road east of = Canning. To get to my viewing area, drive 0.3 km. west, toward Canning, = from the junction of the Canning Aboiteau road and the road into = Canning, and park on the shoulder where the green sign is for the road = to Blomidon Park. Then look south, toward a large farm complex at the = top of the orange-sprinkled rise along Saxon Street. I believe those = cattle and egrets were on the south side of the river, and I did not try = to find out how to get closer to them, nor whose land this was. = Definitely a spotting scope is required to see the egrets as more than = white specks. All of the cattle were lying down when observed, and the = egrets were standing but not moving, and probably sleeping. >=20 > Cheers from Jim in Wolfville > _______________________________________________ > Nature mailing list > Nature@blomidonnaturalists.ca > = http://blomidonnaturalists.ca/mailman/listinfo/nature_blomidonnaturalists.= ca --Apple-Mail=_013E71DA-F89C-4353-89A7-6B0C14B02901 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/html; charset=windows-1252

<meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html = charset=3Dwindows-1252">
<body style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; = -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: = after-white-space;">
<div style=3D"">

Begin forwarded = message:

<blockquote = type=3D"cite"><div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; = margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px;"><span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 1.0);">From: = <span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">Jim Wolford <<a = href=3D"mailto:jimwolford@eastlink.ca">jimwolford@eastlink.ca>
<= /span>
<div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; = margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px;"><span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 1.0);">Subject: = <span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">[ValleyNature] = edited, re cattle & c. egrets se. of = Canning

<div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: = 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px;"><span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 1.0);">Date: = <span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">November 6, 2014 at = 5:37:15 PM AST

<div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; = margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px;"><span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 1.0);">To: = <span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">Nature BNS <<a = href=3D"mailto:nature@blomidonnaturalists.ca">nature@blomidonnaturalists.c= a>

<meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" = content=3D"text/html charset=3Dwindows-1252"><div style=3D"word-wrap: = break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: = after-white-space;">I have edited my previous messages on the cattle = & egrets, so hopefully it makes more sense = now?

<div style=3D"margin: 0px; color: rgb(16, 97, = 200);"><span style=3D"">NOV. 6, 2014 - In early afternoon = I drove around (in my new/used/2010 silver Honda Civic) in the two areas = mentioned yesterday, <span style=3D"">looking for herds of cattle and = cattle egrets.
