Marcos Zentilli, geologist and resident of Purcell's Cove, will lead folks to a few local quarries. Beginning in 1759, both granite and slate were exploited by British troops in Purcell's Cove. These stones were used to build harbour defenses and many historic buildings in Halifax. After the walk, there will be an opportunity to wrap up at the Purcell's Cove Social Club.
