I couldn't get a decent = look so I took four blind shots of the shrub the bird was working from. = It was a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. I saw three Purple Sandpipers fly past = and deposit themselves behind a coastal headland, my first examples of = this species for the year. I did see the egret earlier from the driveway = to the castle but it was too distant for meaningfull photos. Earlier at Duncan Reef whilst enjoying my coffee a Red-throated Loon = flew past. There were three Black Guillemots floating and diving = offshore that I couldn't morph into Dovekies, try as I might. The area = has been frequented by Leach's Storm Petrels but they have been = impossible to photograph well. ____________________________________________________________________ Hans Toom Portuguese Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada http://www.hanstoom.com http://www.hanstoom.com/blog ------=_NextPart_000_005D_01CFF8F5.AC8AFEA0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.23588"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial">----- Original Message -----=20 <DIV style=3D"BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; font-color: black"><B>From:</B> <A=20 title=3Dhtoom@hfx.eastlink.ca href=3D"mailto:htoom@hfx.eastlink.ca">Hans = Toom</A>=20 </DIV> <DIV><B>To:</B> <A title=3DNS-RBA@yahoogroups.com=20 href=3D"mailto:NS-RBA@yahoogroups.com">NS-RBA</A> </DIV> <DIV><B>Sent:</B> Wednesday, November 05, 2014 12:40 PM</DIV> <DIV><B>Subject:</B> Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Red-throated Loon and Purple=20 Sandpipers</DIV></DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Yesterday when I was searching for the=20 <STRONG>Snowy Egret</STRONG> at Duncan's Cove I spotted what I thought = was a=20 large flycatcher.
