Index of Subjects Hi! Lucky you, I haven't noticed that behavior, maybe it's something learned. Pretty cool sounding though! I usually just see them creeping on trees looking for insects, or going to the feeder! Am sure some of the more experienced birders on here would have some insight for you, cheers, Gary ---- Carmel Smith <girlby@yahoo.com> wrote: > Howdy! I've noticed the R.B. Nuthatches behaving like flycatchers this summer. Perching and sallying to catch insects on the wing and returning to a perch again. Is this how they might normally behave? Do nuthatches elsewhere do the same? I had never noted it before; I should note though that I have never had the chance to observe so many R.B.N. before. They are numerous here this year. > Carmel SmithMidville Branch L'burg County > > > On Tuesday, October 14, 2014 1:21 PM, "garymurray@ns.sympatico.ca" <garymurray@ns.sympatico.ca> wrote: > > > > Hi all, > > Whilst having morning coffee, noticed a R.B. Nuthatch taking Black Oil seeds form the feeder and burying them around the yard. Don't recall seeing this before, kinda cool! There are also 12 Ring Neck Ducks still around, the Wood Duck seems to have been a one day wonder. > > Cheers, > Gary > Tucker Lake, > Beaverbank NS > >
