My colleague Dr David Malloch at the New Brunswick Museum says "That's a Hy=
pholoma, possible H. capnoides or H. dispersum. They like wood chips and f=
ruit late in the season." He recently gave a talk at the Nova Scotia Mycolo=
gical Society annual foray in Wallace NS about the difficulties of identify=
ing fungi in the genus Cortinarius. More information on that society is ava=
ilable here, for those interested: www.nsmushrooms.org

Dear All, Oct 12, 2014
Several days ago a Cortinarius emerged near edge of chipyard at 16 Over=
look Rd.

The first on the house lot in 47 years.

For some 10-20 years we keyed fleshy fungi nearly every weekend in season b=
ut very rarely (never ?) managed to key Cortinarius to species.
