I'm no expert either but it sure looked like the book. In the morning I was walking a trail off Whycocomagh Mt.Rd., and flushed something. I phished and up popped not one, but eight Swainson's. I'm not a thrush expert, but I'm basing my identication on the fact that none of these birds had any obvious rufous coloring, even on the tail. Later that day, I was quietly sitting in mixed forest on the Scotsville side of Whycocomagh Mt, near Piper's Glen. Again, I heard something hopping through the dead leaves near me. When I phished quietly, this time 12 came into the call, moving all around me. Obviously there is a very large movement going on, as these two groups were at least 40 km. apart. There also seems to be an explosion of Ruffed Grouse in the area, as we counted 25 in two days, with only one Spruce Grouse.
