We were hoping to see a few shorebirds at Evangeline to show to a new birder friend, and almost left before several small flocks of S.P. Sandpipers and S.P. Plovers appeared totaling somewhere around 200 birds. Fortunately they landed right in front of us, so we had good views before a Peregrine Falcon came swooping across very low to the ground, grabbing a S.P. Plover and continuing on his way without a pause. He made several passes while we watched the peeps. At Miners' Marsh we found 5 Pied-billed Grebes, a Belted Kingfisher, and lots of Red-winged Blackbirds. A Bald Eagle passed overhead. At the salt marshes between the Avon R. and Windsor we saw a Gt. Bl. Heron. Lois Codling
