I birded from Bridgewater=2C to Mahone Bay and visited the Dynamite Trail i=
n Clearland=2C the Bay to Bay Trail outside of Mahone Bay and out along Mad=
er's Cove to Prince's Inlet Drive. Normally this route would be good for a=
t least 30-40 species if not more. All I was able to find today were 13 sp=
ecies. Fourteen if I include a hairy woodpecker heard only. There was an =
abundance of tree frogs vocal though.
=20
I took photographs of a caterpillar that looks quite alien. I actually hav=
e photographs of two that have the same black spikes coming from them=2C po=
ssibly of two age brackets for the same species. If anyone would like to t=
ake a crack at ID I can send pictures. I also have pictures of an orange c=
aterpillar taken at Cherry Hill Beach=2C that was moving so fast across the=
sand=2C that it was hard to keep up to it for taking a photo. I think tha=
t one might be a tiger moth=2C but if anyone would like to confirm the ID o=
n that one as well for me I would appreciate it. =20
