Hi All,

I just finished the analysis of the night of September 2-3, 2014 over
Amherst, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. A south wind came up around 11 pm
and lasted through night at a speed of 20-30 km/hr. Hence I wasn't expecting
much migration. However, it was the second strongest night this year for
warblers. Most of the migrants were recorded just before or during the
initial hour that the wind picked up, indicating that the southerly wind
brought them down. At the same time, a number of unusual birds were recorded
during the southerly flow through the night. These included:

1 Wood Thrush

1 Henslow's Sparrow

2 Golden-winged/Blue-winged Warblers

1 Prothonotary Warbler

These species are listed in the order of probability that the identification
is correct (higher to lower probability). While it is not possible to
distinguish the Golden-winged and Blue-winged Warblers, the two recorded on
this night were more typical of Blue-winged Warbler while the one recorded
last week was more typical of Golden-winged Warbler.
