--Apple-Mail=_550759AF-88F7-4C07-B46C-CFE97020D666 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252 Everyone here knows my vote, which goes to Newcombe=92s Wildflower = Guide, which when it came out in 1977 was already field-tested =97 it = has a quite simple key system, which is easily learned (with the proviso = that every choice you make requires flexibility and repeated visits to = the key, until you find a good match for your specimen =97 it=92s line = drawings are superb, usually, and far superior to photos =97 drawbacks = are that you need to have a flower for the key to work, and this guide=92s= coverage in eastern North America, not just Nova Scotia. Any = provisional identification needs to be checked with the Flora of N.S., = which can be found in any public library or university library. That = Flora is already dated, of course, as is anything that is ever = published. I was very fortunate back in 1977 to discover this then-new guide in a = bookstore in my home town of Park Ridge in the Chicago suburbs.
