Hi Paul,
Yes, particularly for bees.  We have a small stand of pickerel weed in the nearby lake, currently in flower, and likewise have observed a lot of bees visiting it, mostly bumblebees.

I was out on a river the other evening and was standing beside a  bed of Pickerel Weed ( Pontederia cordata ). It was in full bloom and was covered with bees and other insects. As it is plentiful in NS it may be an important food source for pollen insects.
